We went down to the harbor in the morning
and got on a day cruise ship which dropped us off on Fox Island, where we did a short bit of kayaking. It actually was a bit frustrating, because we only got to kayak for about an hour and a half -- not nearly enough. Here's Wendy getting mad at me because I am taking pictures rather than paddling the back half of our kayak:
After kayaking, we continued our cruise, and saw sealions, lots of puffins and murres, and a few sea otters. No whales, though -- I don't think we got far enough out into the open water to see them. We will have to go back.
Once we got off the ship, we jumped back into the car and started the journey towards Denali. Rather than driving the whole way, we stopped inTalkeetna, getting in around 10pm. Along the way, we saw a moose and her two calves along the side of the road. At highway speeds, though, we couldn't stop for pictures....
